I get a connection failure when trying to download or send e-mail. Print

Problem:

When you try to download e-mail into your mail client, such as Outlook, Netscape, or Eudora, you experience a connection failure message. This usually occurs when a malformed e-mail message was sent to your e-mail account and your mail client cannot process the mail. While it does not stop your e-mail from being delivered to your mailbox, your mail client cannot download any mail after this message was delivered.

Solution:

To resolve the problem, log into Dynamix Webmail at
http://mail.websitehosting.net Once you've logged in, look for any message in your inbox that has a blank subject of and/or sender line. Delete it. Look for any other potential problematic e-mails such as spam or mail with attachments from people you do not recognize. Delete those as well.

Once you've deleted the bad mail, try downloading into your mail client again. It should now download any remaining mail in your webmail inbox.

If all else fails:

The last thing to check is if your ISP is blocking Port 25. Many larger ISP's such as AOL and MSN block port 25, which is used to send e-mail. This will cause a connection failure when you try to send mail. This means you may have to use a your ISP's outgoing mail service to be able to send mail.

Please read the following article if you need help changing the port:
